Savings banks model is also gaining ground in the Far East: Chinese delegation visits Sparkasse Heidelberg

The delegation of the Chinese Weihai City Commercial Bank gladly accepted the invitation issued by Sparkassenstiftung. The schedule of the 10-day study visit was very tight: The July-tour started in Frankfurt with a visit of the IT service provider of the German Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe (Savings Banks Finance Group), the “Sparkassen Finanz Informatik”. After a warm welcome by the Managing Director of Sparkassen Finanz Informatik, Andreas Schelling, the delegation was informed about the strategic development and orientation of the German Savings Banks Finance Group.

Accompanied by Sparkassenstiftung’s Deputy Managing Director, Ferdinand Feldgen, the delegation continued its visit to the Sparkasse Heidelberg (Heidelberg Savings Bank). The guests from theFar East were particularly interested in the advantages inherent in the public mandate of a savings bank, its organisation structure and internal procedures as well as in the overall structure of the German Savings Banks Finance Group. Bernd Wochele, Chairman of the Managing Board of Sparkasse Heidelberg, gladly responded to the delegation’s strong thirst for knowledge. Topics such as lending business, operations with private customers or risk and balance sheet management were discussed in length.

Sparkasse Saarbrücken (Saarbrücken Savings Bank), too, was highly delighted about the guests from the Far East. Uwe Kuntz, Sparkasse Saarbrücken’s Deputy Chairman of the Board, welcomed the delegation and informed them about how the Sparkasse Saarbrücken handles the business with private customers.

The delegation continued its trip with a visit to the Sparkasse Aachen (Aachen Savings Bank), where they were welcomed by Dr. Christian Burmester, Sparkasse Aachen’s Chairman of the Board. The last point on the agenda was the visit to Sparkasse KölnBonn (Cologne-Bonn Savings Bank) in Cologne, where Beate Zimmermann informed the delegation about the training and further education measures offered by this German savings bank.
