More than 30 staff members from different Gambian savings and credit cooperatives visited the first training on the improvement of customer care and customer consulting organised by the Credit Union Training Center (CUTraC) of Ghana. For the first time ever, CUTraC Ghana has offered training measures executed by its own trainers to other organisations than its own members and across the borders of its home country. The three-day seminar was organised by Sparkassenstiftung in cooperation with the Gambian association “National Cooperative Credit Union of the Gambia” (NACCUG).
Professionalise banks, increase customers’ satisfaction
The training objective in Gambia was to improve and professionalise the consulting quality of bank staff, to strengthen the customers’ trust in credit unions and to increase their willingness to save. The participants were familiarised with the products and principles of the credit unions and informed about different forms of communication and how communicating with customers is important for consulting and servicing customers. Strategies to improve communication, to enhance the consulting of members and to cope with and manage crises were further seminar topics.
Since 2011 Sparkassenstiftung has supported the association of some 500 savings and credit cooperatives in Ghana in setting up and efficiently operating an own training center. The extension of training measures to Gambia is an integral part of the cooperation between the credit unions in English-speaking countries in West Africa and underlines the well-established level of sustainability and quality of the Ghanaian training center within the scope of Sparkassenstiftung’s cooperation project.
