Migrants residing in Bavaria who have only limited prospects of remaining or who have already expressed the wish to return to their country of origin (irrespective of their residence status) are to be supported in their voluntary return to their home country and prepared for the economic challenges they might face. In some of the countries of origin dependent employment tends to be the exception rather than the rule. Therefore, German Sparkassenstiftung focuses on equipping the target group with basic knowledge on how to set up a business and fundamental business know-how to improve returnees’ prospects in their country of origin. Another objective is to improve the management of household budgets.
The Business Games (Micro Business Game and Savings Game) developed by German Sparkassenstiftung have proven a worldwide success in regard to financial literacy and are being conducted within the project. If the technical and organizational requirements are met, the Business Games can be offered as Virtual Classroom Trainings (VCT).
The measures have already been successfully applied by German Sparkassenstiftung since the beginning of 2018 within the framework of the project "Programm Migration for Development (PME)" of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit gGmbH (GIZ) under the program "Perspektive Heimat" of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Joined activities with the LfAR (Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Repatriation) can build on the experience gained. The well-established cooperation with Social Impact (SI) can be continued and further intensified by the Berufliche Fortbildungszentren der bayerischen Wirtschaft GmbH (bfz).
Project Task
Implementation of Savings Game and Micro Business Game for migrants in Bavaria who are interested in returning to their countries of origin, if possible, via institutions of initial or subsequent accommodation or the existing return counseling structures.
