The project supports Mongolia in implementing its NDC strategy and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 22% by 2030. As buildings in Mongolia are the main cause of these emissions, the project focuses on reducing them and covers 30% of Ulaanbaatar's building stock. In addition, it significantly improves the living conditions in the affected households.
The project provides for the establishment of a Building Energy Efficiency Facility (BEEF) at the Ulaanbaatar Mayor's Office. The aim is to implement market-oriented measures to improve existing buildings and promote energy-efficient construction. The current heating tariff does not yet offer any incentives for the use of energy-saving technologies.
Task
Establishment of a revolving Building Energy Efficiency Facility (BEEF) to help finance energy efficiency measures
