Duration
22.07.2025 - 22.10.2025

The aim of this assignment is to assess the training and capacity needs of farmers and agribusiness enterprises in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Ukraine regarding their financial competencies. The focus lies on their ability to prepare and finance sustainable agricultural investment projects. The results will inform targeted training and capacity-building programmes.

The project includes a needs assessment through focus group discussions with farmers and agribusiness owners as well as interviews with financial institutions. The aim is to identify gaps in financial knowledge, awareness of climate risks, and understanding of financing opportunities. The results will be compiled in a report and serve as the basis for designing training programmes under the PROGRESS initiative to support sustainable agriculture.

Tasks:
Despite available support schemes, access to finance for sustainable agriculture remains limited in the target countries. High capital costs, low levels of financial literacy, and a lack of awareness about financing options and requirements pose major barriers—especially for small-scale businesses. Additionally, climate change increases uncertainty and hinders long-term investment planning.
