Duration

The project addresses significant challenges faced by MSMEs, particularly those owned by Syrian refugees in the earthquake-affected region of Kahramanmaraş. These challenges include limited access to financial services, lack of business skills, and unfamiliarity with the regulatory environment. The devastation from the earthquakes has exacerbated these issues, with many businesses suffering from destroyed assets, high poverty rates, and economic instability. The project focuses on providing comprehensive support such as financial and business literacy training, access to finance, and tailored mentorship to help these businesses recover, grow, and contribute to local economic stability and social cohesion.

Task
The pilot project aims to empower legalized Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) owned by entrepreneurs from Syrian refugee or host community background by enhancing their financial and business management skills through structured training and coaching. Through hybrid entrepreneurship training, up to 100 MSMEs will gain essential financial literacy and up to 70 MSMEs will gain business development skills. Additionally, up to 50 selected MSMEs will receive tailored mentorship and Business Plan Development Services (BPDS) to develop their businesses. The project also directly supports up to 50 MSMEs in accessing grant support, further enabling their business expansion. An integral part of the initiative is fostering sustainable collaboration by strengthening the capacity of Syrian trainers and consultants. Up to twelve local trainers from the Syrian community will be trained as co-trainers to deliver business coaching and mentorship, ensuring long-term, tailored support for MSMEs.
