Duration
30.07.2025 - 30.08.2026
The country of Honduras – and specifically the regions of Atlántida, Colón, Olancho, and Yoro – experiences persistent rural poverty, where many families live in socially and economically precarious conditions. There is a need for participatory planning and integrated watershed management to promote local development. Despite the region’s high potential, productivity is limited by climate risks, low levels of technology, weak organization, restricted market access, and poor infrastructure. Furthermore, there has historically been a lack of state presence and investment. The target group consists of poor rural families with the potential to engage in agricultural and non-agricultural transformation processes.
- Mapping of Honduras’ Fintech/Agtech ecosystem and analyze tech needs in rural organizations, focusing on women, youth, and indigenous groups.
- Identify digital startups with potential to serve PROINORTE and map investors.
- Raise awareness and train at least 20 organizations via workshops and digital materials.
- Launch a public call for Agtech/Fintech startups to join an acceleration program.
- Select and contract 2 startups through a rigorous evaluation and Due Diligence process.
- Implement acceleration with mentoring, pilot testing, and scaling, benefiting 46 organizations and 2,300 households; document results in workshops and Demo Day.
Tasks:
The objective of the Innovatech PROINORTE project is to provide support for the development and implementation of two technological innovations applied to finance and agriculture, with a focus on nutrition-sensitive chains in the project area, which respond to the needs of PROINORTE beneficiaries, solving high-impact problems for the performance of beneficiary business organizations, including the participation of vulnerable groups, but at the same time have the potential to be scaled up to the regional and national levels.
