Like many other savings banks in Central and Eastern Europe, Eesti Hoiupank was essentially a capital collection centre. German Sparkassenstiftung actively supported the Estonian savings bank in its strategic and business policy reorientation. To this end, extensive training measures were organised. In addition to seminars in Estonia and Germany, internships were organised at German savings banks. Furthermore, Sparkassenstiftung advised the Estonian savings bank on the selection and implementation of a suitable IT system and on the redesign and optimisation of its nationwide branch network. Finally, Sparkassenstiftung supported the Estonian savings bank in its transformation into a modern universal bank in the areas of organisation and risk management.
