Project description

In many cases, not only the offer of financial services is insufficient, but the potential customers’ knowledge of financial services including the appropriate use is inadequate too, even in developed countries, as the number of indebted households in Germany shows. Thus, appropriate offers of basic financial education, which are actively used by broad strata of the population, are an important contribution to achieve the goal “Education for sustainable Development”.

Within the scope of the project, a comparative study was executed in different countries, examining the education offers already existing in the field of financial education, analysing the effects of single offers on the envisaged target group and presenting the factors of success of thriving educational offers. The goal was to give recommendations on the future design of offers focusing on „financial education“, resulting from the analysis of the existing educational measures. These recommendations are to be tested and adjusted within the scope of two pilot projects in Mexico.
