A delegation from Ghana and Gambia visited Germany at the invitation of the Savings Banks Foundation and the Rhineland Savings Banks and Giro Association in September 2014. On a four day journey, representatives of the Ghana Co-operative Credit Union Association (CUA) and the National Association of Co-operative Credit Unions of the Gambia (NACCUG) were able to gain some insight into the daily business and educational programmes of German Savings Banks. At the branches of the Savings banks in Essen, Düsseldorf and Aachen the guests from Africa experienced the Savings Banks model on the spot. The delegation was also impressed by the Rhineland Savings Banks Academy branch in Cologne. As the hosting institution, the Rhineland Savings Banks and Giro Association invited the delegation to their head office in Düsseldorf and informed them about the work of the association through a variety of presentations.

Since 2010 the Savings Banks Foundation and the Rhineland Savings Banks and Giro Association have been jointly conducting a <link http: www.sparkassenstiftung.de en projects projekt sparkassenpartnerschaftsprojekt-mit-der-ghana-co-operative-credit-unions-association-cua-aufba _blank>project with CUA in order to establish a training institution, the Credit Unions Training Centre (CUTraC) and to develop education services in Ghana.
