Project description The project aimed at supporting the institutional development of SA Postbank into a universal credit institution, providing basic financial services particularly to the lower and medium income groups in the rural areas of South AfricaThe focus of consultancy was on the areas of legal autonomy for the Postbank, the development and introduction of new products, enhancement of its market position and implementation of target group-oriented marketing measures, Postbank’s institutional development and the improvement of staff quality. Substantial progress was reported in all areas of support. Thanks to the activities taken in the areas of organisation and marketing, it was succeeded in decisively improving Postbank’s market position. Further support by the German project partner to Postbank’s ongoing institutional development can be considered once the institution has gained full legal autonomy.
