Knowledge transfer and insights into practical work of a German savings bank: Armenian delegation visits Sparkasse Hochsauerland

In order to learn more about dealing with private customers, three representatives of the Armenian Inecobank visited the German Sparkasse Sauerland in mid-July. Levon Rubinyan, head of the private customer department, Aren Naltakyan, head of the sales department, and Alik Stepanyan, head of one of Inecobank’s largest branches, intend to use their fresh knowledge and insights gained during their three-day exchange with their German savings banks colleagues to further develop their countrywide operating bank and transform it into a sustainably working credit institution with public welfare orientation.

Learn from the best: German savings banks as model and support from Sparkassenstiftung

Inecobank is one of Armenia’s largest banks with a countrywide branch network. At the same time it is the market leader in the field of standardised operations with private customers. Sparkassenstiftung supports Inecobank with the aim to expand the bank’s operational basis. One component of this cooperation is to “learn from the best” – in this case from the German Sparkassen and their know-how in the field of operations with private customers.

Sparkasse Hochsauerland as reference project

In order to identify a suitable German savings bank for the knowledge transfer, Sparkassenstiftung defined various criteria prior to the visit, such as size of the institution, business structure or area of operation. Furthermore, the sales structure, number of employees and the strategic focus played a decisive role in the selection process.

After a thorough analysis, the Sparkasse Hochsauerland was selected. Ulrich Dolle, Member of the Board, believes that this knowledge transfer is of huge benefit for Inecobank: “Thanks to the practice-oriented and profound knowledge gained, Inecobank will be better able to implement its ambitious objectives in the future. This is actual “help for self-help” – one of Sparkassenstiftung’s basic principles.
