Film premiere: Susu – A Microfinance System in Ghana

With a documentary film by Andreas Kranz the Sparkassenstiftung informs about remarkable possibilities of saving

One thing holds true for all people and for all population strata across the globe: Saving is an important pillar to safeguard both the private and the economic future and well-being. But particularly in developing countries the access to financial services is more than often extremely difficult.

Supported by the Sparkassenstiftung für internationale Kooperation (Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation) the journalist and filmmaker Andreas Kranz has produced a documentary film about a remarkable microfinance system in Ghana: the Susu scheme.

The film gives a detailed portray of this savings scheme, which enables humble workers to save a part of their daily income without laborious visits to banks.

On 4 July 2014 the documentary film “Susu is good for you – A country saves itself rich” premieres within the scope of the “Ghana NRW Länder Forum” (Ghana – North Rhine-Westphalia Country Forum) in Wuppertal.
