The microfinance association RIM is supported with the aim to improve the level of professionalism of the Burundian microfinance institutions (MFI).
Throughout the country RIM has 18 member institutions, offering financial services to its customers.
The joint project aims to enhance the quality of services provided, in particular through training of MFI staff. A further main goal is to improve the financial literacy level of the Burundian population and to increase the number of people actively participating in the formal financial sector. In addition, the institutional development of RIM is to be strengthened and, finally, RIM’s member institutions are to be provided with adequate standards for their reporting to the Burundian central bank.
- Support to RIM through consulting of its management and advanced training of its staff
- Introduction of adequate reporting standards for the reporting to the Burundian central bank
- Financial literacy and mobilisation of savings, among others introduction of World Savings Day
- Education and further training of member institutions’ staff (with the help of the project "Resource Center East Africa")
