Digital transformation is an important success factor for banks and companies worldwide. In addition to the digitalisation of processes and procedures, digital transformation is also understood to mean the promotion of innovation and customer centricity as well as a corresponding corporate culture. It is the general way of working and thinking.
In particular, smaller financial institutions in Mexico lack the resources and know-how to keep pace with large banks in the digital transformation and to offer their clientele, especially vulnerable population groups, up-to-date products. This is where the project comes in, in order to strengthen know-how within the institutions and transform the culture, in addition to strategic orientation and targeted innovation support.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the financial inclusion of disadvantaged populations in Mexico.
The specific project objective is to support regional financial institutions (MFIs, savings banks and cooperative banks) on their way to a digital transformation strategy in order to enable their customers and people who have not yet had access to financial services to increase their economic options through adapted digital technologies.
Digitalization brings new opportunities and potentials for financial inclusion. To harness the potential of digital technologies for MFIs, both the adaptation of internal strategies, structures, processes and competencies and the strengthening of a culture of innovation are crucial.
Project Tasks
- Development and implementation of individual digital transformation strategies for selected MFIs
- Design and development of training measures on the topic of digital transformation for employees in MFIs.
- Strengthening the culture of innovation, establishing an innovation lab (network for the exchange of know-how and the strengthening of cross-sectoral cooperation)
