Emigration from Venezuela to countries in the region has assumed the proportions of a humanitarian crisis over the past three years. In total, about 4.6 million Venezuelans (13% of the population) have left their country, of which about 1.4 million people have migrated to Colombia and around 860,000 people to Peru.

This massive exodus is driven by political factors, socioeconomic needs, the search for employment opportunities or the general situation of insecurity and violence. Local economic and financial integration is a major challenge for both the refugees themselves and the host population, as well as the local financial institutions and authorities.

The overall objective of the project is the comprehensive integration of migrants in the project countries. The concrete project goal is to improve the participation in the local economy in the project countries.

Project Tasks

  • On the demand side, the economic and financial literacy of the target group is to be strengthened.
  • On the supply side, financial services are to be adapted to the needs of the target group.
  • By promoting the cooperation of different organizations working in this field, the offer of integrative measures is to be improved.
