Colombia is currently home to about 1.4 million immigrants from Venezuela, while Peru is home to about 860,000 Venezuelan migrants. The economic and financial integration of refugees is a challenge, especially in the context of the current pandemic.

Financial integration is of strategic importance for participating in the local economy and the promotion of entrepreneurship. Providing of adequate financial services for the migrant population is therefore just as important as financial education programs to empower the target group in the use of these services.

Project Task

  • Identify the needs and risks of MSMEs to boost growth and ensure the continuity of their commercial and productive activities, while taking into account the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis. The needs assessment includes a gender-specific focus.
  • Develop, validate and implement a program to promote both personal and entrepreneurial requirements in line with the needs previously studied.
  • Promote the competencies of potential intermediaries from partner institutions.
