Assistance for Retail Banks in SME Business / Set-up of a Bank Network

Project description

The project aims at the support to local banks while developing and implementing a retail bank strategy in order to accomplish stable profits and to foster overall economic development. The project also aims at the creation of a bank network of retail banks in Azerbaijan and Georgia. In both countries all in all seven partner banks have been selected for which a tailor made retail banking strategy has been developed and implemented. The newly invented procedures in Azerbaijani partner banks let to an increase in the number of clients as well as to stable profits on a high level.

Partner banks in Georgia that have been selected in June 2003 have made changes in the area of credit risk management, controlling, and product development that had a positive influence on their financial figures. In addition market analyses in both countries have been conducted. Based on the outcome of these analyses new target group oriented products have been offered and new branch offices have been opened. Furthermore there is a vivid exchange between Georgian and Azerbaijani partner banks.

• Reorganisation and redesign of procedures.
• Provision of training and courses (off and on the job) for management and staff (in Azerbaijan, Georgia and also abroad).
• Organisation of information visits at German Savings Banks and other organisations of the German Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.
