Project description

Like many other savings bank in Central and Eastern Europe, Eesti Hoiupank mainly fulfilled the task of collecting savings. The Sparkassenstiftung actively supported the Estonian savings bank in reengineering its business strategy and business policy. Measures of support included seminars in Estonia and internships for Eesti Hoiupank’s staff in German Sparkassen (savings banks). Moreover, the Sparkassenstiftung advised the Estonian savings bank on the selection and implementation of a suitable IT system and assisted Eesti Hoiupank in restructuring and optimising its nation-wide branch network. Finally, the Sparkassenstiftung rendered support in transforming the Estonian savings bank into a modern universal bank, with particular focus on the areas of bank organisation and risk management.
