Project description
Modernisation of the bank system in Azerbaijan by developing the professional skills and knowledge of practising bankers through the establishment of the Azerbaijan Bank Training Centre in Baku (including physical establishment, and legal support to its registration at the appropriate institutions), with local management and local trainers able to meet the needs of these practising bankers. During the course of this project a curriculum for the Centre leading to 33 modular courses on all bank topics was developed. Furthermore a faculty of local permanent and part-time trainers was build up. In addition courses and training of (primarily) commercial bankers in a number of disciplines was delivered. The project also rendered ample assistance to the establishment of a high quality resource centre / library as well as to the recruitment and training of local management. It also supported institution building at the “owner” of the ABTC, the Banks’ Association of Azerbaijan. ABTC is very well known on the Azerbaijani banking and insurance market. Besides training it provides consulting services to banks and non-financial institutions on all kind of bank topics. ABTC is a well known partner to a number of international institutions (such as KfW, EBRD, EU, ADB, USAID etc.).
