Sparkassenstiftung extends its offer of Business Games: First test of the Farmers Business Game was a huge success

With the new Farmers Business Game, the seventh business simulation made by Sparkassenstiftung is ready for action: To the benefit of financial literacy worldwide!

The Business Games belong to Sparkassenstiftung’s most important tools to impart financial literacy all across the globe. Meanwhile, they have reached the status of an international brand.

Following a year of intensive work, Sparkassenstiftung has now introduced its seventh business simulation game: the newly developed Farmers Business Game. The first training of trainers took place in the German town of Bad Breisig in September and proved to be a huge success. For four days in a row, Sparkassenstiftung’s experts and the consultants of the co-developing company “BTS” held a training for 17 experienced international trainers.

The participants slipped into the role of a farmer and in small groups they decided about the cultivation of fields, purchase of cattle and how to handle unexpected occurrences. While the “Happy Family” followed the path of maximisation of luck, the “Power Croppers” concentrated on expanding their farm. The participants were able to put their freshly gained knowledge and experience directly into practice. In shifts, they led the different groups through the business simulation game, switching their roles from players to instructors.

The objective of the new Farmers Business Game is to familiarize small and medium-sized farmers with the various aspects of agricultural financing and relevant factors of financial stability, thus raising their awareness of the sensible usage of financial services.

The Farmers Business Game succeeds in breaking down the complexity of agricultural finance and imparting the most important knowledge in an understandable way.

The winner of the business simulation is the team that succeeded in significantly increasing not only the quality of the farm, but also the quality of life by taking prudent and correct decisions during the game.

Now, the Farmers Business Game is ready for its worldwide use. The next training of trainers is scheduled for the beginning of 2018 within the scope of Sparkassenstiftung’s regional project in East Africa.
